He likes cooking. She likes eating. She's a Mac. He's a PC. She watches Bachelor. He watches The Walking Dead. He does the dishes. She does the laundry. She was homeschooled. He was not. She's a product of the 80's. So is he. Their style is mid-century modern mixed with IKEA and handcrafted Amish. They love God. They love each other. They love Simon and Betsy. They are blessed.

I’m falling behind!!! Gotta catch up and then it’s only 9 more weeks of these posts before Simon turns 1!!!
posted January 1, 2014Simon has been out of my tummy longer than he was in my tummy now! He is just so much fun and me and Kyle love to laugh at his antics and tell each other the silly things he did when the other person wasn’t around to see it. :)
posted January 1, 2014My capsule wardrobe for October-December 2014 is comfortable, “dressy casual” and neutral with pops of red and green fitting with my autumn coloring.
posted January 1, 2014I have been pondering a little something called Project 333 for almost 6 months and finally decided to take the plunge for the October-December 2014 cycle. Read more about it if you’re interested but the basics are to choose 33 items (not including workout clothes or sleepwear) to wear for 3 months. Get rid of or box up the rest.
posted January 1, 2014Phew, catching up on 3 busy weeks: prepping for our trip to Hershey, our trip to Hershey, and recovering from our trip to Hershey!
posted January 1, 2014Not a super eventful week, but a super fun weekend camping with Grammy and Poppy!!
posted January 1, 2014We dropped Simon off in the infant room at church last week, and picked him up in the crawlers room! He had been promoted! He is a mover and a shaker. :)
posted January 1, 2014We had a busy, fun week! Little bubba is such a speedy scooter, super curious, and a little temperamental. :)
posted January 1, 2014My goodness, we have been busy! Between hanging with my nieces, camping, swim lessons, photo shoots and so much more we are on the go a lot and I am behind on blogging a lot!
posted January 1, 2014Phew, took a little break from blogging! Here’s my big catch-up post.
posted January 1, 2014So late in posting, we have been busy!!! Oh well, this is 2 weeks and ago and it’s when we dove headfirst into baby-led weaning (trendy name for skipping purees and going straight to “real” food that baby can handle).
posted January 1, 20142 busy weeks, camping both weekends, a difficult goodbye to my parents, and the first week of having my nieces over one day a week.
posted January 1, 2014Second weekend camping! One night without baby and one night with baby.
posted January 1, 2014Camping was the big thing this week, Si’s first camping trip required lots of preparation from mommy. :)
posted January 1, 2014Although we had a great weight gain this week, I started doing some reading because Si has gone from the 85th percentile at birth to falling off the chart last week. I’m really not worried because he is so healthy, happy, alert and on track developmentally, but I am trying to figure out how I can best help him gain weight a little more rapidly.
posted January 1, 2014My first Mother’s Day with a tiny human of my own (outside of my belly)!
posted January 1, 2014I need to start writing my post during the week I’m writing about, or at least at the end of that week, otherwise I forget stuff since Si is changing so fast!
posted January 1, 2014Ok, seriously, I had my post 99% written and was adding in pictures when I lost it all. So this time we’re doing Cliffs Notes. BUSY week. Tons of fun. :)
posted January 1, 2014Such a busy week!! More special time with grandpa and grandma Hoyt, mommy and daddy had two date nights, and mommy had a night alone!
posted January 1, 2014Another week of sleepless nights, extra cute mornings, and achieving a major milestone!
posted January 1, 2014At last, grandma and grandpa Hoyt are here!!! My parents arrived Wednesday so the beginning of the week was busy with our usual activities plus getting ready, and Wednesday and on has just been fun hanging out with them!
posted January 1, 2014Si’s first swim class, new sleeping arrangements, and special time with Grammy and Poppy!
posted January 1, 2014Baby Si is 3 months old! Hurray! We had a nice week, a few very busy days, a few days at home, and a weekend with friends.
posted January 1, 2014I had a post partially written at the end of last week, but then we got some unexpected time with daddy and took a trip to Indy and I never got that post up so I’ll just add in this week and call it good!
posted January 1, 2014Simon’s first full week of sleeping in his crib and in his room alone! He’s still waking a lot at night but seems to be getting better at settling himself down. Sometimes he even just hangs out in his crib awake but not crying and then goes to sleep!
posted January 1, 2014I read a lot this week! I wish I had done some of this reading before I had Simon, I just didn’t know what to expect, and I didn’t know what I didn’t know!
posted January 1, 2014This was a frustrating week as far as sleep went. Other than that it was a good week! Simon continues to be more adorable day after day and is starting to be a little more vocal, just cute noises here and there!
posted January 1, 2014Baby boy is sleeping a little longer at night!! Yay! He did 3-4 hour stretches most nights this week! This is a big step in the right direction!
posted January 1, 2014Ahhh, we’ve made it to the 6-week mark! Here’s hoping that sleep becomes more plentiful at night moving forward, I would love to go for a 4 hour stretch each night, but that might be wishful thinking. You know I’ll be shouting CAPS LOCK style up in here when it happens. :)
posted January 1, 2014Simon turned one month old this week!! I honesty didn’t realize he was a month old until halfway through the day. We had gone to Winona Lake to visit a bunch of friends and when anyone would ask how old he was I would say “ummm… 4 weeks and 3 days” until I was at my grandmas and then I realized it was the 22nd and that he was a month old! Hurray!
posted January 1, 2014I read a ton of postpartum must-have blog posts the last couple months of my pregnancy and compiled a small list of the items I saw come up the most frequently. It’s now 5 weeks after Si was born and I feel recovered and wanted to share what items ended up being my “must-haves”.
posted January 1, 2014Another week has flown by! Our little man is doing so good — gaining weight (slowly but surely), becoming more aware of his surroundings, travels well…
posted January 1, 2014The nursery is finally pretty much done! I had a lot of fun decorating Simon’s nursery. I knew I didn’t want an overly themed nursery so I looked around on Pinterest and got the idea for the alphabet wall there, and the rest is a collection of items from both families, and a whole lot of IKEA.
posted January 1, 2014Writing a blog post has been on my to-do list for a couple weeks now, but the task-oriented person that I am is learning that life with a sweet little baby means I might have an hour or two to “get things done” a day, or I might have 5 minutes, haha. :)
